Srinagar: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast hot and dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir from May 21 to May 31, with occasional light rain or thundershowers expected in some areas.
From May 21 to 26, the weather will remain largely dry, with only brief spells of light rain likely at isolated places, particularly towards the late afternoon.
Between May 27 and 31, the region is expected to see similar conditions, though the chances of light rain or thundershowers will increase slightly and may occur at scattered locations.
A rise in maximum temperatures is expected in both divisions. In Kashmir, temperatures may increase by 1 to 2°C till May 23, with the possibility of heatwave conditions in some areas. A slight drop of 2 to 3°C is expected thereafter.
In Jammu, the mercury is likely to rise by 2 to 3°C till May 26, making heatwave conditions likely in several parts of the division.
Thunder and gusty winds may also occur at isolated places during late afternoon hours, the weather office said.
