Ramban: Incessant downpours across Jammu and Kashmir have raised fresh safety alarms, with visible cracks emerging on the Ramban flyover this afternoon and shooting stones reported across multiple stretches of the Srinagar–Jammu highway.
The flyover in Ramban developed noticeable fissures amid relentless rainfall, prompting heightened concern for commuter safety. Simultaneously, officials reported shooting stones, fragments dislodged from nearby hill slopes, at several points along the crucial highway.
The Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar and Kathua districts have borne the brunt of heavy rainfall since early morning, while Qazigund and the higher reaches of Kulgam and Anantnag have also recorded steady, unrelenting showers.
Authorities have warned that the ongoing wet weather may further destabilise infrastructure, leading to mudslides, landslips and additional damage to roads, especially in already vulnerable stretches.
Commuters have been advised to avoid non-essential travel and use extreme caution until weather conditions improve.
Meanwhile, shooting stones have been reported at several stretches along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway as heavy rainfall continues across the Jammu region since early morning, particularly in Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, and Kathua districts. Steady non-stop rainfall has also been recorded since morning in Qazigund, and the higher reaches of Kulgam and Anantnag.
