Israel has received all 20 captives released by Hamas and handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross in Gaza under the ongoing ceasefire agreement.
Meanwhile, Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank are awaiting the release of nearly 2,000 prisoners from Israeli jails as part of the same deal.
US President Donald Trump has arrived in Israel, where he is scheduled to address the Knesset and co-chair a summit in Egypt focused on the agreement.
As limited humanitarian aid begins to reach the Gaza Strip, displaced Palestinians continue to return to the ruins of their homes in northern Gaza.
Israel’s genocide in Gaza has so far killed at least 67,806 people and injured 170,066 since October 2023.
Earlier, speaking to reporters, President Trump praised Qatar for its pivotal role in brokering the Gaza deal.
“The Qataris played a key role in making this agreement possible,” Trump said, according to Al Jazeera. “The emir showed great courage and leadership — Qatar took significant risks to help bring this about, and they deserve recognition for that.”
