Despite a ceasefire that took effect on October 11, the death toll in Gaza continues to rise, with 68,159 people killed — mostly women and children — since the Israeli offensive began in October 2023. Another 170,203 people have been injured, according to local health authorities.
Officials warned that the figures remain incomplete, as many victims are still trapped beneath rubble, unreachable by rescue and ambulance teams, WAFA news agency reported.
Medical sources told the news agency that over the past 24 hours, 18 bodies — including 10 recovered from under debris and 8 killed directly by Israeli forces — along with three injured individuals, were brought to Gaza hospitals.
Israel has killed at least 97 Palestinians and wounded 230 since the start of the ceasefire, and violated the truce agreement 80 times, Al Jazeera reported, quoting the Gaza Government Media Office.
As part of the ongoing ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement, 15 unidentified bodies previously withheld by Israeli authorities were also handed over, bringing the total number of bodies returned to 150, delivered in five batches of 45, 45, 30, 15, and 15.
