Two detained for creating ruckus in Sonamarg, says police

Sonamarg: Police on Thursday said that taking prompt action on a viral video circulating on various social media platforms, police in Ganderbal detained two persons for their unruly behaviour, creating nuisance and attempting to disturb public peace at the famous tourist destination, Sonamarg.

In a statement, the police said that the detained persons have been identified as Mehraj Din Sheikh, son of Mohd Sabir, a resident of Kullan and Mohd Arshid Mir,  son of Sona-Ullah Mir, a resident of Gund.

Both individuals were found indulging in unruly behaviour, causing inconvenience to tourists and locals. Acting swiftly, police personnel of PS Sonamarg apprehended the duo and initiated legal proceedings. They were subsequently bound down for their conduct and produced before the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Gund, for necessary action under law.

Police reiterates its commitment to ensuring a safe, peaceful and harassment-free environment for all tourists visiting Sonamarg and other scenic spots of the district.
