Jammu: Asserting that ‘Naya Savera’ (new dawn) has broken out in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday reiterated the government’s commitment to establishing peace and making the region prosperous.
Addressing the main January 26 function in Jammu, LG Sinha paid tributes to martyrs and victims of militancy, natural calamities and tragic incidents.
Saluting the courage and bravery of the armed forces, LG Sinha said, “Operation Sindoor sent a clear message to the world that militancy will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”
He praised the armed forces for eliminating Pakistani militants involved in the Pahalgam attack and paid homage to its victims, as well as those who lost their lives in the unfortunate Nowgam blast.
The Lieutenant Governor also acknowledged the suffering caused by recent natural calamities in the region, paying tributes to those who lost their lives. He expressed gratitude to the armed forces, SDRF, and NDRF for their relentless rescue and relief operations during times of crisis.
Highlighting the development agenda, LG Sinha said the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is fully committed to transforming Jammu and Kashmir and contributing significantly to the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat by 2047.’
He emphasised that the region is witnessing a new era of peace, progress, and opportunity.
Speaking on tourism, LG Sinha said it continues to play a pivotal role in J&K’s economy. He noted that from January to November 2025, over 1.61 crore tourists visited the Union Territory, though the figure remains slightly lower than the previous year due to the impact of the Pahalgam attack and natural disasters. Despite these challenges, he said the government has continued its efforts to promote tourism and restore confidence among visitors.
He also praised initiatives that promote national unity and public participation, noting that the J&K Chief Minister’s participation in the Kashmir Marathon has added a new dimension to the event. The large-scale participation in the Tiranga Yatra, he said, reflects the deep-rooted patriotism among the people.
LG Sinha said a “Naya Savera” (new dawn) has emerged in Jammu and Kashmir, with strong measures taken to eliminate militancy and provide comprehensive support to families affected by militancy-related violence. He announced that all pending militancy-related killing cases will be re-examined to ensure justice.
Highlighting infrastructure development, the Lieutenant Governor said Kashmir has now been connected to the rest of the country through railway links, while express highways have significantly improved regional connectivity. He added that the effective implementation of centrally sponsored schemes has brought transformative changes across sectors.
Urging citizens to adopt clean energy, LG Sinha encouraged people to install solar panels under the PM Surya Ghar Bijli Yojana, calling it a step toward sustainability and energy self-reliance.
He stated that Jammu and Kashmir is steadily moving toward peace, progress, and inclusive development under the collective efforts of the government and the people. (KNO)
