Jammu: Maintain separate email IDs for financial transactions, avoid clicking unverified links and report cyber fraud immediately by dialing 1930.

Cybersecurity expert Er Neeraj Dubey on Sunday urged people to follow basic cyber hygiene to stay safe from online threats, including phishing and smishing attacks.

Dubey was speaking at a one-day workshop on Cyber Security organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) at the Media Complex auditorium in Jammu under the guidance of Director Information Nitish Rajora.

He advised participants to stay calm in case of cybercrime, report incidents promptly to the police and use the Sanchar Saathi app to block or track lost or stolen mobile phones. “Awareness is the first line of defence in today’s technology-driven society,” Dubey said.

The workshop aimed to sensitise participants about growing online threats and equip them with practical tools to protect personal and professional data. Key topics discussed included cyber threats, safe internet practices, password security, phishing awareness, digital safety, social media privacy and emerging risks in the digital space.

Through real-life case studies and interactive discussions, participants gained insights into how cybercriminals operate and how to safeguard themselves against attacks. The session also included hands-on activities on identifying suspicious links, securing devices and responding to cyber incidents.

Students of MAM College Jammu and officials of DIPR participated in the workshop and appreciated the expert guidance shared during the session.

JD Headquarters Zahoor Ahmed Raina, JD Jammu Deepak Dubey and other officers were present on the occasion. (KNO)
