Two Pakistani nationals who had escaped from a juvenile home in Ranbir Singh Pura were arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) from the premises of Ambala Cantt Railway Station, officials said on Wednesday.
According to police, the duo had fled from the juvenile facility in Jammu and Kashmir after opening fire at security personnel during their escape. They were later tracked down and apprehended in Ambala.
Three inmates — two Pakistani nationals and one Indian — had escaped from the RS Pura juvenile home. The arrested men were identified as Mohammad Sanula, 20, and Ahsan Anwar, 21, both from Pakistan. One had been lodged in the facility since 2019 and the other since 2021.
Officials said the two were handed over to Jammu and Kashmir Police for further investigation.
Police added that their accomplice, Karamjeet alias Guga, an Indian national who allegedly masterminded the escape, remains absconding. Investigators believe he was planning to facilitate their movement out of the country to Nepal through the Uttar Pradesh border.
The arrested accused are expected to be taken on remand as authorities continue the probe into the escape and the wider network involved.
