The Counter-Terrorism Department in Balochistan on Wednesday said 14 suspected militants were killed in separate operations carried out in Quetta and Barkhan districts, Dawn reported.

According to officials, eight armed suspects were killed during an operation in Quetta’s Darakhshan area after an exchange of fire. Three CTD personnel sustained injuries in the encounter. Weapons and ammunition were seized from the site, and the deceased were believed to be affiliated with a banned organisation.

In another intelligence-based operation in Barkhan, six militants were killed in a separate gunfight. Authorities said security personnel remained unharmed and additional arms and ammunition were recovered. The suspects were allegedly involved in planning disruptive activities.

The operations are part of an intensified counter-terror campaign amid a volatile situation in Balochistan and neighbouring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Earlier, security forces concluded Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1, eliminating 216 militants in a series of clearance missions, according to Inter-Services Public Relations, as quoted in the Dawn report.

The crackdown followed multiple attacks across the province on January 31 that disrupted normal life for several days. During parallel actions, nearly 180 suspects were arrested and a large cache of weapons was recovered by the Frontier Corps and police, officials said.
