Srinagar: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) on Tuesday announced summer vacation for all government and recognised private schools across the Kashmir division from July 6 to July 19, 2026, amid the prevailing heatwave.
Director of School Education, Kashmir, Naseer Ahmad Wani, said the vacation will be observed from July 6 to July 19, with both dates included.
The decision comes as above-normal temperatures continue to affect most parts of the Valley, leading to growing calls from parents and students for an early summer break.
The vacation schedule will apply to all government and recognised private schools under the jurisdiction of the Kashmir division.
The announcement follows appeals by several parents urging the government to declare summer vacations in view of the prolonged spell of hot weather.
