Srinagar: Water levels in the River Jhelum remained below flood declaration marks across Kashmir on Friday afternoon, with mixed trends recorded at various monitoring stations, according to the Irrigation and Flood Control Department.
At 12pm, the Jhelum was flowing at 18.90 feet at Sangam, where the water level was increasing but remained below the flood declaration mark of 21 feet. At Pampore, the river stood at 5.09 metres, marginally above the flood declaration mark of 4.5 metres but on a decreasing trend. At Munshi Bagh, the level was 18.99 feet, below the 21-foot danger mark and decreasing.
Further downstream, the river measured 12.48 feet at Asham, where the level was increasing but remained below the flood declaration mark of 14 feet. The Wullar Lake level was recorded at 1575.94 metres, also showing an increasing trend.
Among the tributaries, Vishow Nallah at Khudwani was flowing at 6.90 metres and rising, while Rambiyara Nallah at Wachi stood at 1.93 metres, also increasing. Lidder Nallah at Batkoot was recorded at 1.02 metres and decreasing, Doodhganga at Barzulla remained stable at 1.33 metres, and Sindh Nallah at Doderhama was at 2.19 metres with a decreasing trend.
Authorities said all major rivers and tributaries continue to remain below danger levels and are being closely monitored amid the ongoing wet spell.
