Temporary road at Awoora washed away as police and SDRF teams assess the situation; no casualties reported.
Anantnag: Road connectivity on the Bijbehara-Kuller-Pahalgam route was suspended on Friday after the fourth cloudburst of the season struck the Pahalgam area, triggering a flash flood that washed away a temporary road at Awoora, officials said.
The cloudburst hit Nallah Awoora, causing a sudden surge in water that completely damaged the makeshift road constructed at the site, officials said.
Vehicular movement on the Bijbehara-Kuller-Pahalgam stretch was suspended as a precautionary measure, and commuters were advised to avoid travelling on the affected route until restoration work is completed.
Police and State Disaster Response Force teams were mobilised to assess the damage and ensure the safety of people living in low-lying areas along the nallah.
No loss of life or property was reported immediately, officials said.
Restoration work is expected to begin after water levels recede.
