Srinagar: Jammu recorded 66 mm of rainfall over the past 24 hours, the highest in the region, while Udhampur received 56 mm, according to the Meteorological Department.
Data shared by the MeT Centre Srinagar showed that Poonch recorded 45 mm of rain, followed by Kokernag at 42 mm and Qazigund at 32.6 mm during the same period.
For August 23, the weather department has forecast generally cloudy conditions, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers expected at many places. Brief spells of intense rainfall may occur in one or two districts of the Jammu division until the afternoon, after which conditions are likely to improve.
Between August 24 and 28, the weather is expected to remain generally hot and humid, with isolated spells of rain or thundershowers mainly during the early morning and afternoon.
From August 29 to 31, hot and humid conditions are likely to continue, while light to moderate rain and thundershowers may occur in scattered to many places. Brief intense showers are expected mainly in the Jammu division during the morning and afternoon hours.
The MeT has warned that intense, localised showers could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides. Farmers have been advised to continue harvesting and other agricultural activities.
