At least seven people were wounded, including three children, overnight in Russian attacks on southern Ukraine’s city of Zaporizhzhia and the wider district, regional officials said on Thursday.
The regional governor Ivan Fedorov said that Russian forces launched strikes over the entire region, resulting in seven injuries.
“Seven people, including three children, have been wounded as a result of enemy attacks on Zaporizhzhia and the Zaporizhzhia district,” Fedorov said in a statement posted on Telegram.
The attacks were among a series of overnight drone and missile strikes by Russia across Ukraine and come after several explosions in the capital of Kyiv that also caused damage, Reuters earlier reported.
Three people were initially reported injured in strikes on Zaporizhzhia, the agency said, before regional authorities raised the number to seven.
Fedorov also said that Russian forces had attacked more than a dozen locations across dozens of settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region throughout the previous day, highlighting the current scale of Moscow’s protracted campaign in Ukraine.
Russia made no immediate comment on the reported injuries. The two sides have stepped up long-range attacks in the five-year war that shows no sign of ending soon.
