The minor was allegedly beaten up while resisting an attempt to sexually assault her in north-west New Delhi’s Rohini district leaving the child and two others injured, the ANI reported.
Police arrested a suspect in connection with the incident and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and whether there were any other people involved.
The injured were shifted for medical treatment. The identity of the minor has not been revealed as per the Indian law to protect the privacy of the victims of sexual offences.
The case is likely to be investigated under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
