Ukraine’s Ministry of Reconstruction, Infrastructure and Transport said on Thursday that a Russian Unmanned Aerial Vehicle attack on a Tanzanian-flagged civilian ship travelling to a Ukrainian port killed its captain and wounded three other crew members.

The ministry said that the vessel was attacked on Sept. 17 en route to one of Ukraine’s ports. It said the vessel was being inspected.

“We express our condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased. We wish the injured a speedy recovery,” the ministry said.

“Russia is systematically attacking Ukrainian ports, port infrastructure, and civilian merchant vessels, posing a threat to people and international shipping in the Black Sea,” the ministry said.

It called for an “appropriate response from the international community” and coordinated measures to strengthen protection for civilian shipping and international logistics routes.

Russian air strikes wounded people and damaged civilian and industrial infrastructure in several Ukrainian regions, Reuters reported Thursday.
