India has condemned attacks on Saudi Arabia’s civilian and energy infrastructure after an Indian national was killed and three others injured in separate incidents targeting an airport and an oilfield, the Ministry of External Affairs said Thursday.

The Indian was among eight others injured in an attack on King Fahd International Airport, Dammam on Wednesday, the ministry said. There was another Indian among those injured when an attack targeted Saudi Aramco’s Shaybah oilfield in the kingdom’s Eastern Province.

“We strongly condemn the sustained attacks on the civilian as well as energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia,” the Indian Embassy in Riyadh said in a statement.

“The embassy condemns these attacks in the strongest possible terms and calls for their immediate cessation. It further offers sincere condolences to the family of the Indian victim and wishes speedy recovery to the victims of these attacks.” said the statement.

The embassy said it had been in touch with the Saudi authorities and would offer all necessary help to the Indians and their families.

India reiterated its support for Saudi Arabia in protecting its sovereignty and hoped for peace and normalcy in the area soon.

The strikes occurred as tensions soared over the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen and in light of fears over the safety of Saudi civilian sites and energy installations.
