Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said the Tata Group had been “systematically and criminally destroyed” and asked where the leaders of Indian industry were while the row over the leadership of Tata Sons, the holding company of the conglomerate, escalated.
‘Indian business is not Modi and Shah’s plaything’, Gandhi asserted in a post on X targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
“Tata is being destroyed the criminal way and no business leader is speaking up. How long will you keep silent? Until they own you? “We will bring justice to those crimes,” he wrote.
The comments came as the company is locked in a tussle over the reappointment of N. Chandrasekaran as Tata Sons’ executive chairman for another five-year term. Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata has questioned the legality of the board resolution, claiming that there was a flawed procedure.
The dispute has highlighted differences of opinion over the company’s governance and the Articles of Association.
No official reaction was available immediately from the government or the Tata group to Gandhi’s comments, the reports said. Gandhi’s charges of misconduct alone do not constitute criminal behavior.
