Five members of Hajin family put behind bars

Srinagar: J&K Police have arrested five members of a family from Hajin town in Bandipora district.

Locals from Parray Mohalla Hajin told a Srinagar based news agency CNS, that two days back when Forester Muhammad Akbar Parray’s family was celebrating an engagement ceremony of one of their female family member, a police party from Hajin police station raided their house and arrested five members of the family including their father and his two sons.

The detained persons who are in police lock-up from past two days have been identified as Muhammad Akbar Parray, his two sons Muhammad Saleem and Parvez Ahmed and his two nephews Rameez Ahmed and Umar Mushtaq.

The relatives of Muhammad Akbar said that police have not given any specific reason for the raid and subsequent arrests.

“We fail to understand on what charges they have been arrested. Even we are not allowed to meet them,” they said.

SSP Bandipora, Sheikh Zulifqar, feigned ignorance about the case and said he will check while SHO Police Station Hajin declined to comment on the issue.
