Officials directed to keep check on black marketing during Ramzan; PDD asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply

Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, called for intensifying market checking in the Kashmir division to regulate prices of essentials and to keep a check on black marketing, profiteering and hoarding.

The Divisional Commissioner was addressing officers during a meeting to review the arrangements on Thursday for holy Ramzan.

Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Director FCS&CA, Director Health, SSP, Director Urban Local Bodies, RTO Kashmir, SP Traffic, SO to IGP, SE PDD, Deputy Controller Drug & Food Control Organization, Chief Sanitation Officer SMC, Deputy Controller LMD, Deputy, Auqaf Officers and other concerned attended the meeting, while as other Deputy Commissioners of Valley districts participated in the meeting through Video Conferencing.

The Div Com directed the Deputy Commissioners to constitute squads to intensify market checking. He also asked for providing improved basic amenities to the people particularly during evening hours.

The Officials of Legal Metrology Department were directed to ensure regular market checking to regulate rates charged by the shopkeepers during the Ramzan and called for action against the violators.

Regarding the availability of essentials, he directed FCS&CA Department to keep  essential commodities available for the general public and asked the DCs to personally monitor the distribution mechanism in their respective districts and ensured that the adequate quota of ration reaches to the people well in time.

He said shopkeepers should display rate list of essential commodities for the convenience of the public and also publish it in the print media.

Locals shop for dates, which are a preferred choice for breaking the fast, during holy month of Ramadan, in Srinagar.

 

He asked the PDD officers to ensure uninterrupted power supply and drinking water facilities in Masjids and shrines throughout the holy month especially at Iftar and Sehri time.

He also directed PDD to repair all defunct street lights across the valley.

The Divisional Commissioner also directed the officials of SMC and Municipal Committees to maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness in and around the places of worship and at the places of congregation.

He further directed the health officials to set up medical aid camps at major mosques and shrines for facilitating the devotees and asked them to deploy adequate staff in hospitals and health centers round the clock.

The Div Com directed the RTO to ensure better transport facilities to the devotees especially during the evening hours. He also directed SP traffic to ensure effective traffic management plan in the congested places.

He also asked the officers of all the concerned departments to work in synergized manner so that people do not face any inconvenience during the holy month.
