Geelani terms NIA raids as ‘state sponsored terrorism’, says, it is ‘well-thought out plan’ to defame resistance leadership

Syed Ali Geelani

Srinagar: Condemning the raids by National Investigation Agency (NIA) on the residences of resistance leaders and political activists, Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani, on Tuesday termed it “state sponsored terrorism”.

But, he said, “despite the state sponsored terrorism, people in J&K will pursue their struggle for freedom and won’t give up resistance or change their stance.”

The octogenarian Geelani said that NIA have been given this task “just to drag and involve leadership into fabricated cases”.

He said that during day long raids at the residences of Altaf Ahmad Shah alias Fantosh, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Meraj ud Din Kalwal, “the NIA team found nothing except their mobile phones, laptop and documents pertaining to personal properties”.

“NIA sleuths after questioning found nothing and it is rather strange that instead (of) making things public, (NIA) maintained a mysterious silence, and in turn,” Geelani said in a statement issued by Hurriyat Conference (G), “Indian media without any reason and proof  assigned un-proportional and unnecessary hype.”

“It is well-thought out plan to defame movement and resistance leadership,” observed Geelani. “It was an inoperable and failed step by Delhi authorities.

Geelani said that the “NIA raids” on resistance leadership illustrate “their (Delhi’s) frustration and fascist mindset”.

“It is a mischievous ploy,” he said while referring to Narendra Modi, Ajit Doval and Mohan Bhagwat. “With their military might, they are involved in prevailing bloodshed.”

“They are scared about resistance leadership and commitment of people with (the) freedom movement,” Geelani, who is under continuous hose detention, said. “Their main aim was to discredit and defame resistance leadership but failed and were defeated.”

While commenting over the statement of Union home minister, Rajnath Singh, Geelani said, “people are not scared of these intimidations and until the Kashmir issue is resolved as per aspirations of people, they will pursue their mission with dedication.”

He stressed upon the resolution of long pending issue through right to self-determination and said, “people will strive to fight for their rights till the issue is resolved in accordance with the resolutions passed in UN.”
