‘Your wish will be fulfilled,’ home minister replies to reporter on revocation of Article 370

Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh takes salute as he receives a guard of honor during a visit to a Rapid Action Force Camp in Allahabad on January 28, 2015.

Srinagar: The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) government headed by premier Narendra Modi has said that “wish” of people (of India) to revoke Article 370 from the Indian constitution “will be fulfilled”.

In a media interaction, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that the government will soon come up with an “integrated permanent solution” on the issue of Kashmir.

But the minister stopped short of explaining the issue saying “such things could not be disclosed in public”.

Singh was highlighting achievements of the Narendra Modi government in the last three years in a presser in Mumbai.

The BJP – which runs a coalition government in J&K with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – has been fighting elections with an agenda to “fully integrate” state of Jammu and Kashmir with the union of India.

The saffron party’s politics has been mostly revolving around it.

However, the Agenda of Alliance (AoA) signed between PDP and BJP before the two parties joined hands and formed government in J&K on March Ist 2015, has not touched this issue.

Singh also claimed that the situation in Kashmir Valley is improving.

“Unrest is being created in Kashmir at the behest of Pakistan. Talks can resolve any difficult issue. We will talk to everyone who wants to talk,” Singh said.

When asked whether removing Article 370 is part of the integrated permanent solution on Kashmir, Singh smilingly said, “Have patience”. He then added, “Aapki kaamna puri hogi (your wish will be fulfilled).

The home minister added that the government will ensure that “no one creates obstacles” in the path of Kashmiri youths.

Meanwhile, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called in Pampore area of Pulwama district this morning after a road opening party of 110 Bn CRPF found a grenade on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

The forces cordoned the area near Galander Pampore after they found a grenade.

A team of BDS was immediately called to defuse the grenade, however, they revealed it was a toy grenade.

Soon after the revelation traffic was allowed to move on the busy highway and people around had a sigh of relief.
