Slain Bandipora youth, who worked as a salesman in Rangreth, laid to rest
Srinagar: Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of a civilian in Bandipora on Friday morning who was killed in Indian armed forces action on Thursday in Srinagar.
Naseer Ahmad Sheikh aka Judge was killed when armed personnel of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) opened fire on civilian protestors in Rangreth area of the summer capital.
He was targetted in chest and he fell down when hit by a bullet and was rushed to JVC Medical College in Bemina wherefrom he was referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.
However, he succumbed to his injuries late yesterday night. His body was driven to his native Ashtangoo village in Bandipora before Sehri (pre-dawn meals during Ramzan) today.
A Jammu and Kashmir Police cop was also killed yesterday night in Hyderpora area of Srinagar. Identified as Shahzad Dilawar, he too is a native of Ashtangoo village and a neighbour of slain Naseer.
Naseer was married around eighteen months ago.
“Thousands of people turned up at the home of Naseer,” a neighbour of the slain youth said.
Later, he said, people assembled in the local Eidgah where the funeral prayers were held.
“A few people addressed the mourners,” he said. “Around 8 am, shaheed Naseer was laid in to the grave.”
“The funeral of Naseer witnessed massive pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India sloganeering,” he said, “youth have raised the Pakistani flags all around the area.”
Speaking to the FreePressKashmir over phone, a relative of slain Naseer said, “the family received a call from Naseer’s friends around 3 pm on Thursday that he was injured.”
“There was confusion because Naseer is popular as Judge in his native village and we could not figure out who was the person but when we received a photo, tragedy befell us,” he said.
He said that the family members of Naseer rushed to SKIMS Soura where doctors had operated upon him.
“But he could not fight for his survival as there was much blood loss and the bullet had damaged his internal parts,” another relative of Naseer said.
Naseer, 22, had no child.
He was second son of his parents. His father is a Village Level Worker (VLW) appointed by J&K government.
Naseer was working as a salmesman at a shop in Rangreth for over one year now. He dropped out of studies after he could not pass matruculation examination.
The deceased is survived by father, mother, grandfather, his wife and three brothers who own agriculture land as well as apple orchard.
