Srinagar: As the lower house of J&K Legislature witnessed massive anti-government sloganeering and speeches, the lawmakers were informed that the right wing Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has spread its foothold across Kashmir Valley.

“We heard many lectures here,” BJP’s J&K unit chief, Sat Pal Sharma told the house, “let me inform you, BJP has three and half lakh members in Valley itself.”

Sharma was responding to the accusations that J&K state was witnessing turbulent times because BJP formed government here.

National Conference and Congress joined by independent Er Rasheed held anti-BJP, anti-RSS and anti-PDP held protests amid sloganeering in and outside the house when the session started around 11:05 am on Saturday.

Sharma was participating in paying in tributes to those lawmakers and a governor who died in last six months.

The governor N N Vohra has called a special session of J&K Legislative Assembly to discuss the extension of central Goods and Services Tax (GST) to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

However, the PDP-BJP government is facing a stiff resistance from National Conference and Congress while the joint resistance leadership termed the law as a plan “to cripple economy of J&K”.
