4.5 magnitude earthquake jolts Kashmir Valley

Srinagar: A medium-intensity earthquake, of magnitude 4.5 on the Richter scale, shook Kashmir Valley on Saturday morning.

The epicentre of the earthquake, which was recorded at 5.44am, was in Sumbul area of Bandipora, an official of the Indian meteorological department (MET) said.

The earthquake was recorded at 4.6 by the US Geological Survey who also ascertained the depth of the tremor at 35 km.

The quake caused momentary panic among the sleepy residents of Kashmir Valley however no damage was reported from any part.
