Braid cutting: Joint Resistance Leadership calls for TRC Chalo on Oct 14

‘Call for Valley wide protests on Friday against braid chopping incidents’

Srinagar: The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik on Thursday called for a TRC (Tourist Reception Centre) Polo View Chalo (March) to protest against the “conspiracies being hatched by the Indian state” to change the demography of the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

The braid chopping incidents in the valley, which started in Kashmir’s Kulgam on September 14 have created mass panic among the people who have protested against unabated braid chopping incidents in Kashmir.

Around 85 incidents have been reported in Kashmir so far, with 30 incidents reported from Kulgam itself. Kulgam has the highest number of cases so far.

5 braid chopping incidents were reported today, with 3 from the city itself.

People at many places have caught hold of suspected braid choppers and beaten them, or handed them over to the police.

In a joint statement, the Leadership said that the Indian state is hatching conspiracies against the history, culture of the state to change its Muslim character.

“We have called for a rally on Oct 14 to protests against the anti Kashmir policies and to aware people about these dangerous designs,” they said in a statement.

The leaders have also called for Valley-wide protests on Friday against the braid chopping incidents.
