Srinagar: Minister for Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Abdul Rehman Veeri on Saturday asked the Jammu and Kashmir police to adopt a with humanitarian approach while dealing with people.
The Minister was the chief guest on the Police Commemoration Day Parade function at J&K Armed Police Complex Zewan.
The function was attended by Minister of State for Forest, Ecology, Environment, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Cooperative and Fisheries, Mir Zahoor, Minister of State for Hajj & Auqaf (Independent charge), Syed Farooq Andrabi, Deputy Speaker Nazir Ahmed Khan (Gurezi), former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Chief Secretary B B Vyas, Director General Police Dr S P Vaid, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmed Khan and other senior officers of police and civil administration.
The Minister urged the police to become role models by demonstrating a humane approach towards the people.
He lauded the role of Police in reaching out to people in any eventuality. He reminded the role of Police Personnel in Disaster Management and said that rescue operations carried out by JKP during 2014 floods were appreciated by one and all.
Veeri said the synergy between Police and Civil Administration has been exemplary in smooth functioning of administration for betterment of public.
He also said that the Police has multi dimensional role and should be prepared and trained for the varied challenges.
Revenue Minister also said the Government is taking all the measures for the welfare of the police personal.
DGP Dr Vaid in his speech congratulated the pass-outs while thanking the Minister for attending the event as the ‘Chief Guest’. He said J&K Police is always ready to meet any challenge and has trained its Personnel keeping in view present and future needs.
He thanked the Government for its sensitiveness to the needs of Police Personal and thanked the Government for hike in enhancement of ex-gratia relief from 7 lakh to 20 lakh in favour of Martyred police personal, creation of Jammu and Kashmir Police Service Cadre and also the increase in Selection Grade Constable quota from 25% to 50%.
