Srinagar: In response to National Conference President Farooq Abdullah’s ‘dare’ to hoist the tri-colour in Lal Chowk, activists of Shiv Sena tried to do the same however were detained by the police.
The activists of Shiv Sena and Bajrang Dal tried to hoist tri-colour at the historic clock tower of Lal Chowk in Srinagar.
Eye witnesses and reports said that as soon as the activists appeared near the square, police swung into action and detained all of them.
On Tuesday Shiv Sena State President Dimpy Kohli and General Secretary Manish Sahni, had said that a team of Shiv Sena is going to hoist the Tricolour on Wednesday at Lal Chowk.
‘A special team of Shiv Sena has gone to Srinagar under this secret mission and will hoist the Tricolour at Srinagar tomorrow,’ Kohli had said adding that Chief Patron of National Conference Farooq Abdullah has challenged the Indians to hoist the Tricolour at Lal Chowk and this would be a befitting reply to him.
Reports said the incident took place Wednesday morning when the market was still closed.
