LAWDA demolishes seven illegal structures around Dal Lake

‘Demolition drive will continue with full vigour’

Srinagar: The enforcement wings of the Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) have launched demolition drive in various areas of the city to remove encroachments.

LAWDA continues demolition drive around Dal Lake and removed several encroachments which had come up illegally in the area recently.

LAWDA team was assisted by district police Srinagar. “A demolition drive was carried out at Zeathyar Nishat, Habbak, Arabal Shalimar, Karpora Cheshmashahi, NFR, Zakura, Nigeen and Kabuter Khana Dal areas in the periphery of Dal Lake as various illegal constructions had come up in the prohibited areas.

The Dy. SP Sohail Reshi of LAWDA said intends to carry out series of demolition drives in the coming days to ensure effective implementation of the orders of the High Court that no construction should be allowed in the 200 meter periphery of the lake.

According to Enforcement Officer at LAWDA, the demolition drive will continue with full vigour to remove all the illegal structures that have come up along the non-permissible zone in the catchment area of Dal Lake.

Enforcement officer said legal action was also initiated against the owners of houses and other structures which have come up in violation of the Master Plan in and around the Lake.
