SBM employees rally against Govt, demand concrete job policy

Srinagar: Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) employees on Monday staged protest against the government for ‘failing to make any concrete job policy for them’.

The protesters carried out the protest march to press for their demands from Polo ground. The protesters tried to march towards Divisional Commissioner’s office here amid chanting slogans like ‘we want justice’.

They prior to heading towards Div Com’s office told reporters that the government has failed to come up with the concert job policy for the employees working under SBM scheme.

The protesters said that the scheme ended a few years ago but the government extended it for some few years. “The last date of the scheme is Dec 31, 2017. Despite working with dedication, the government has utterly failed to make concrete job policy for the employees,” they said.

The employees said that the government by turning its eye blind towards the sufferings of hundreds of employees working the SBM scheme. “The government must take appropriate steps to secure the job of SBM employees so that we could heave a sigh of relief,” they said.

However, as soon as the protesters tried to march towards Div Com office here, the police disallowed them to move onwards.
The protesters later dispersed peacefully.
