Qazigund: A police officer posted at Qazigund police station in South Kashmir was reportedly attached on Friday after a video went viral in which he was purportedly seen threatening an on duty doctor.

The video making rounds on social media shows that a police officer is intimidating an on-duty Doctor. “I will drag you in the middle of the night and will lodge you in police station,” the police officer can be seen in the video threatening the doctor.

Sources said that the police officer lost his cool after the Doctor declined to provide him a report about an accident without any documental proof.

A protest was also staged by a faction of Doctors Association Kashmir led by Dr Suhail Nayak on Friday against threats to doctors during duty hours. They demanded that Government should bring a legislation on the pattern of other states of India making assault on doctors, paramedical staff during duty hours and damage to hospitals  a “non-bailable offence.

Dr Suhail Nayak said,“This is not an isolated incident. Frequently, doctors are being threatened and assaulted in the hospitals. If the trend doesn’t stop, we will hit to roads on daily basis”.

“The police officer not only threatened the doctor but wanted to implicate him in a false rape case,” Dr Nayak added.
