Srinagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is ruling Jammu and Kashmir with the support of People’s Democratic Party has been continuously receiving complaints about wrongdoings of their workers in Kashmir Valley.

Reports said that some ‘opportunists’ joined the party in a bid to reap benefits shortly after it formed the government in the State. Even some workers who are accused of duping common people and looting money from them. Some of these workers even enjoy protection.

If victims are to be believed, a BJP worker duped a Bank official while entering into a land deal with him. The victim is unable to get his money back as the worker enjoys the support of some BJP leaders.

Another worker has reportedly duped scores of people in the name of providing them government jobs.

The party on Wednesday issued a press statement warning all those who are into such wrong doings.

State General Secretary of the party Ashok Kaul said that all the personal letter pads of party workers are deemed null and void, after frequent reports of misuse of the party name.

“Only party’s official letter pad is valid now,” Kaul said, while directing its workers not to use personal letter pad for any reference.

He also said that some people are frequently using the party name for their vested interests.

“There are complaints that a person namely, Suhail Mir from Kaka Road Nayi Basti, Sheetal Nag, Bagwanpora, Lal Bazar is misusing the party name,” he said, adding that Suhail is not a party worker and was never affiliated with the party.

Kaul appealed people to stay away from such people. “Party doesn’t believe in such deceitful tactics, so the general public is informed to stay away from such offers,” he said.

Kaul also cautioned party workers not to get involved in such subversive activities.
