JK teachers are well aware of their duties, Teachers Forum tells Army Chief

Srinagar: President of Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF), Abdul Qayoom Wani on Monday expressed resentment against the statement made by Army Chief, Bipin Rawat regarding the teaching of map of Jammu and Kashmir in schools.

In a statement, JKTF said that a meeting of teachers forum members was held at its central office Bemina Srinagar under the leadership of Wani.

In the meeting all the members of teachers’ forum expressed resentment against the statement of Army Chief regarding the teaching of map of Jammu and Kashmir in schools of the state by the teachers.

Wani said that the statement is ‘unjustified’ and does not suit to the officer holding such a responsible post. He said that “teaching of J&K map in our schools is a part of education not an offence.”

Wani said that the teachers of JK are well aware of their duties and profession and they are discharging their duties even in difficult situations. He said that education department is a sensitive department and it should be free from outside interference and controversies keeping in view the sensitiveness and future of the students.

Wani said teachers forum is demanding that J&K history should be introduced in the curriculum so that the students will remain in know about their past.

JKTF president said that “education department should not be politicized as it will adversely affect the academics of our schools.”
