Jammu: The opposition protested the detention of Kashmiri businessman Bilal Kawa on Tuesday and accused the government of being ‘afraid of New Delhi.
MLA Khanyar and General Secretary of the National Conference Ali Mohammad Sagar while demanding that the government should come clean over the issue said, ““If you are not afraid of Delhi then why you are silent on detention of Bilal Kawa.”
Kawa was detained at the Delhi airport over his alleged involvement in the 2000 Red Fort Attack case.
Questioning his detention after 17 years, independent MLA Engineer Rasheed said that the government will wake up when Kawa will be hanged like Afzal Guru.
On Monday, the family of Bilal Ahmad Kawa staged a protest in Srinagar to seek intervention of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for “immediate” release of their son.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have already cleared his name and said that they don’t have anything against Kawa.
”There is no case against him here. We have talked to Delhi police in this regard. They are saying that there was warrant number 50012 against him,” additional Director General of Police, Kashmir, Munir Ahmad Khan had told Greater Kashmir.
