Govt should sponsor events to promote tourism, handicrafts and horticulture: KCCI

Srinagar: A delegation of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) met the Minister of Tourism Tasaduq Mufti on Saturday and demanded that the government should sponsor at least week long events outside the state to showcase the state’s tourism, handicrafts and horticulture.

The business community wants the events to take place in Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

“Such events if held are expected to prove advantageous and helpful in alleviating the misgivings borne on the minds of a quite a large section of intending tourists from these regions about visiting Kashmir and motivate them to visit Kashmir. It was explained to the Minister that such a feat on the part of the government would simultaneously help promoting the handicraft and horticulture potential of the State also,” read a statement from the KCCI.
