Border Violations: Death toll mounts to 12 after civilian killed, two seriously injured

Jammu: The death toll due to ceasefire violations on the International Border mounted to 12 after a civilian was killed in overnight firing, reported the Greater Kashmir.

Two other civilians, who are brothers were critically injured.

“Two brothers, Ram Dass Bawa and Gopal Dass Bawa of Kanachak received grievous injuries after a mortar shell landed on their house,” said a police officer.

“Both were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu where Gopal Dass Bawa was declared brought dead while condition of Ram Dass is also stated to be critical,” said the officer.

A woman, Bimla Devi, wife of Bua Ditta of Kanachak recieved splinters injuries and was admitted at GMC&H.
With this killing, the death has mounted to 12 in firing and shelling that began on Thursday in five districts of Jammu division.

Earlier, seven civilians and five forces’ personnel were killed in the firing exchange.
