Srinagar: The Central Reserve Police Force on Wednesday diffused an improvised explosive device near the Pampore railway station.
Officials said that a major tragedy has been averted after the bomb was found in a pressure cooker near the Kandizal-Tangpora area of Pulwama district.
He said a Bomb Disposal Squad of the CRPF defused the IED, without causing any damage. “A major tragedy was averted by the force,” he said.
The official said that security has been heightened and patrols intensified to prevent any militant attacks around January 26.
Recently an IED device was diffused in HMT area of the city which was also successfully diffused by the bomab squad of the CRPF.
On Jan 6, a powerful IED blast took place in the Sopore town of Baramulla district. The blast killed at least four policemen and has injured several others.
According to locals, many shops in the area were also damaged. The IED was placed beneath a shop.
