San Francisco: After the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica row, Mark Zuckerberg, in an interview told the CNN, ” I am really sorry that this happened.”

He also said that he is ready to testify before Congress.

“The short answer is I’m happy to if it’s the right thing to do. What we try to do is send the person at Facebook who will have the most knowledge. If that’s me, then I am happy to go,” Zuckerberg told CNN.

Zuckerberg addressed the scandal publicly through a Facebook post on Wednesday. He wrote that the company made “mistakes” and outlined how it has changed its policies to make sure that user data is protected.

“I wish we’d taken those steps earlier,” Zuckerberg told Segall. “That … is probably the biggest mistake that we made here.”

Politicians have called for Zuckerberg to testify before their legislative bodies in the five days since the Cambridge Analytica scandal erupted.

The data firm, which has ties to President Donald Trump’s campaign, reportedly accessed information from about 50 million Facebook users without their knowledge, CNN reported.

On Thursday, WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton had tweeted that it is time to delete Facebook.

Amid the controversy, The Chief Information Security Officer of Facebook Alex Stamos is planning to leave Facebook by August reported the New York Times.

Responding to the report, Stamos in a tweet said that he is still fully engaged with his work at Facebook, while avoiding divulging details about whether he intended to leave Facebook or not.
