The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a shutdown on Monday against the continuous bloodshed in Kashmir. The leadership has also asked the people to march towards the civil secretariat and hold a peaceful sit there.
The call comes after 5 militants and as many civilians were killed by the armed forces in Shopian on Sunday. Among the killed militants were Saddam Padder, the Hizb commander and Dr. Mohammad Rafi Bhat, the Professor of the Kashmir University who went missing on Friday.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the Chairman of the Hurriyat (M) while condemning the killings said that as the ‘Durbar of our killers opens in Srinagar, people from all walks will move towards the civil secretariat and will sit in a peaceful dharna till the daily carnage is not stopped.

Bhat, an assistant professor in the Sociology department of the varsity, in his last call had told his family that ‘if he has hurt them, he is sorry.’
Reacting to Bhat’s killing, Omar Abdullah, the Working President of the National Conference said that his killing is an answer to those who claim that jobs are the solution to violence and alienation in Kashmir.
