Non local death: No words strong enough to condemn incident, says Mehbooba; It’s against our ethos, says Mirwaiz

On Monday, a non-local man from Chennai died after a stone him in the head at Narbal, the police said.

The deceased, R Thirumani, 32, was travelling in a Tavera vehicle towards Gulmarg when a small group of youngsters threw stones at a few passing vehicles on Gulmarg-Narbal Road.

He was taken to SKIMS, Soura, where he succumbed to his injuries in the evening, a police official said. A girl, identified as Sabreena, was also injured in the incident.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti visited the hospital and met the family of the deceased and expressed solidarity with them.

In a tweet on Tuesday, the Chied Minister said:

In another tweet, Mehbooba reiterated that without a sustained and meaningful dialogue, Kashmir will be pushed deeper into the vortex of violence.

The Chairman of the Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also condemned the incident and said that such hooliganism is against our ethos.
