If a powerful Sangh Parivar man is facing harassment at the hands of army, imagine the fate of common Kashmiri, says Rashid

Srinagar: Expressing ‘sympathy’ with Speaker Nirmal Singh for his ‘revelation’ of being harassed by Army at Nagrota in connection with construction of his house, AIP chief and MLA Langate Engineer Rashid has said that world should learn if the most powerful man of Sangh Parivar is facing harassment at the hands of Army what could be fate of a common man in J&K.

While interacting with people at various places in Kupwara on Saturday, Rashid said “Whenever Kashmiris have been alleging harassment and brutalities through army, they are being labelled as anti-nationals and Pakistani agents and very often their voices go unheard. Now when Dr. Nirmal Singh who has also remained the Deputy Chief Minister of the state is claiming harassment at the hands of Army, not only state Govt. but army must come out with the facts without any delay.”

He added, “Dr. Nirmal Singh needs to be reminded that Kashmiris have been facing huge humiliations at the hands of forces and there are scores of buildings occupied illegally by Army but nobody is allowed to open their mouth. Even at places people are denied entry to their land in areas like Karnah, Karen, Gurez and Uri. Dr. Nirmal Singh should now wake up and raise his voice against all such violations and must feel pain of a common Kashmiri”.

The Independent lawmaker said that people need to be told the truth and defense ministry must clean over the issue as credibility of both Nirmal Singh and Army is at stake.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while reacting to the statement of the newly elected Speaker Nirmal Singh that ‘Army is harassing people’, said that will there be any prime time discussions around the accusation or things don’t matter when words are spoken by BJP leaders.
