Moon sighted in Pakistan and India, Ramzan to begin from May 17

The holy month of Ramzan will begin in Pakistan from Thursday, Chairman of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman announced today.

The moon was sighted in various parts of the country, including Lower Dir, Buner, Nathiagali, Abottabad, Quetta, among others.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee earlier today had called on citizens to spot the crescent with the naked eye or through binoculars and to contact them on the following numbers and record their testimonies.

In Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the month of Ramzan will also begin on Thursday, May 17 in the two countries.

Ramzan will begin for Muslims in India on Thursday, May 17. The moon was sighted in Delhi. The news has been confirmed by Chand Committee.

The sighting of the moon marks the beginning of the holy month of Ramzan during which Muslims all around the world will be keeping fasts from crack of dawn to dusk.
