‘Abusive statement against me reflects the horrid mentality behind Kathua rape’

Srinagar: Mehbooba Mufti, chief minister of JK has thanked everyone for the support and solidarity in the wake of abusive language used by the brother of ousted minister Lal Singh at a rally in Kathua.

In a video which went viral on social media, Chowdhary Rajinder Singh can been seen using derogatory language against Mehbooba in front a reciprocating crowd. Many in the crowd can been seen carrying the tricolour.

Mehbooba, in a tweet while thanking everyone said that the abusive statement & its diction, reflect the horrid mentality behind the Kathua rape case.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had demanded legal action against Singh. Eventually police lodged an FIR against him for abusing the chief minister.

On Monday, Lal Singh had said that calling Dogras criminals and rapists will not be tolerated. The ousted minister said this while linking the arrest of eight accused in the Kathua rape and murder case with ‘honour and dignity of Dogras’.

“We did not protest when they discriminated against us in selection to government jobs, or many other issues,’’ Singh said. “However, we cannot tolerate it if anybody calls Dogras rapists and criminals.” “We have a history. People of Jammu have a history,’’ he said. “Their history is being written in black ink. They kill pilgrims and then shed crocodile tears.”

Recently, the Hindu Ekta Manch sought donations from public to engage counsels on behalf of the accused in seeking CBI inquiry into the case.

“We have to mobilise enough resources so that the best legal team is mobilised to successfully plead the case before the Supreme Court. We appeal to everybody to come forward and donate generously so that a corpus of fund is created to meet the legal expenses,’’ according to a message posted by the outfit on social media.
