Pak’s ex-ISI chief put on ECL list, court of inquiry ordered over spy book co-authored with ex-RAW chief

The name of former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief retired Lt Gen Asad Durrani, who was summoned by the Army on Monday to “explain his position” on views attributed to him in the book Spy Chronicles, is being added to the no-fly list.

Durrani co-authored the recently released book The Spy Chronicles: RAW, ISI and the Illusion of Peace with former RAW chief A. S. Dulat. The release of the book has sparked accusations of treachery against the former spy chief after his candid views on various matters of regional and global concern came to the limelight under intense public scrutiny.

“The competent authority [has been] approached to place his [Durrani] name on the Exit Control List,” shared army spokesperson Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor today via a a tweet.

He added that “a formal Court of Inquiry headed by a serving Lt Gen has been ordered to probe the matter in detail”.

So far, no details have been shared about which statements attributed to Durrani in the book are considered a violation of the code of conduct.
