Civilian succumbs, as Shopian gunfight ends with the killing of two militants

Srinagar: A civilian succumbed after the gunfight that started early morning today in Kundalan village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district ended with the killing of two unidentified militants.

The deceased civilian has been identified as Tamsheel Khan of Vahil Kachdoora area of Shopian. He was 18 and had sustained a bullet-injury on his head during protests near the gunfight site.

Around twenty people were injured during clashes. Two army men including a JCO were also injured when the gunfight started.

Director General of Police (DGP), Shesh Pal Vaid in a tweet said that the slain militants were reportedly affiliated with Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM).

Earlier, father of Jaish militant Zeenat Naikoo died of a heart attack after learning that his son was among the trapped militants.
