Srinagar: Thirteen Amarnath yatra pilgrims were injured in a road accident while heading for the cave shrine early Thursday morning. The accident took place in Udhampur area of Jammu region, GNS news agency reported.
The vehicle carrying the pilgrims hit a truck parked on a roadside near Birma bridge along the Srinagar – Jammu highway in Udhampur, resulting in injuries, reports said. “The injured were shifted to the hospital where two are said to be under critical condition.”
“A case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation taken up in this regard,” a police officer stated.
Earlier, a landslide at Baltal had killed three Amarnath yatris and injured one.

The yatra had earlier been halted due to bad weather but resumed after the weather had improved. Governor NN Vohra, who’s also chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), told the pilgrims that they should have confidence in the forces.
“There won’t be any difficulty in the yatra,” Vohra said. In 2017, eight pilgrims were killed and 13 others injured in the attack on an Amarnath yatris bus.
