14 killed, 60 wounded in Kabul explosion, Vice President survives attack

On Sunday, 14 people were killed and at least 60 wounded in an explosion outside the gate of the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul city shortly after Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum’s convoy left the area.

Officials stated that the explosion happened close to the circle outside the airport’s entrance before 5 pm, immediately after Dostum’s convoy drove past. The convoy did not get affected by the blast.

A TOLOnews journalist at the scene reported at least 10 ambulances arrived in the area and transferred casualties to hospital.

The vice president had arrived back in Kabul at 4.30pm and at 4.40pm he left the plane and was immediately ushered into a waiting armored vehicle. Before 5 pm, the convoy left the airport compound. After arriving at his office, he delivered a speech.
