Omar Abdullah, the Vice President of the National Conference, in an apparent reference to the Resistance Leaders said that those who are out on the rods to defend the Article 35-A are tacitly accepting that the future of the state lies within the constitution of India.
In a tweet, Omar said:
Protecting #Article35A is a tacit acceptance that J&K’s future lies within the Constitution of India otherwise how would it matter if it were struck down or diluted?

In other tweet, the former Chief Minister said:Kashmir has shut down to protect a provision of the Indian constitution. When was the last time anyone was able to frame that headline? #Article35A

The three-bench judge headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra declined the Jammu and Kashmir government’s request for deferment of the case until December this year, reports said.
The hearing was today adjourned because of the absence of the third judge of the bench. The case has been listed for next hearing on August 27, reports said.
Four petitions demanding scrapping of the provision have been moved before the Supreme Court. The main petition was filed by a Delhi-based NGO “We the Citizens”. Later, three petitions filed by West Pakistan Refugees Action Committee, Dr Charu Wali Khanna, and Kali Dass were clubbed together.
