In the gunfight which erupted in the Kokernag area of Anantnag district, a militant has been killed and three civilian have been injured in the clashes near the site.
The police, in its statement has said that from the ‘incriminating material seized it is learnt that the killed militant is a Pakistani affiliated with JeM and was involved in several attacks on security forces and civilian in the area.’
According to reports, two houses were blasted by the forces during the operation. Authorities have snapped internet service in parts of Anantnag district in the wake of the gunfight.
Meanwhile, three civilians were injured during clashes with the forces near the site of the gunfight.
One of the injured, identified as Yawar Ahmad, was brought to district hospital Anantnag for treatment. A doctor treating him said Ahmad has suffered a bullet injury in the back of his head.
Police also said that a huge quantity of ammunition and incriminating material has been seized from the gunfight site.
