Employees on poll duty to receive additional one month salary, SPOs salary to be increased, says Govt

Srinagar: The State government on Tuesday said that all the employees who will be on poll duty will receive an additional one month salary.

The government also said that they will substantially increase the salary of the Special Police Officers (SPOs). The announcement was made by Chief Secretary V R Subrahmanyam during a press conference in Srinagar.

The Chief Secretary also said that adequate security will be given to all those candidates who will contest the upcoming polls. He said that 300 hotel rooms have been booked in Srinagar for candidates and similar arrangements made in south and north Kashmir.

For SPOs, the government is going to make a substantial hike to their salaries in next few days, he said.
“The resignations compared to total number of SPOs who are above 30,000 is negligible” he added.

After militants killed three cops, who were abducted from Shopian, at least six have announced their resignations from three other districts of the valley.

While taking to social media, policemen from Shopian, Kulgam and Pulwama quit their jobs. However, India’s Home Ministry in a statement said that no cop in the state has resigned.

Earlier, Three policemen – Firdous Ahmad Kuchay, Kulwant Singh and Nisar Ahmad – were abducted and killed by he militants in south Kashmir’s Shopian on Friday morning.
